Daryl Dixon: Aftermath

Daryl Dixon: Aftermath from J.D. Viardo on Vimeo.

Originally I was going with the earlier, short-haired Daryl. When starting the fibermesh, I had decided on the longer-haired version.

Starting to work on zombies

Starting the fibermesh hair polygroups. Funky.

To keep current, I decided to go with the longer hair Daryl version instead

This is what happens when you play with Displacement Maps...

T-Pose mesh in ZBrush

Norman Reedus portrays a character named Daryl Dixon in the hit television series, The Walking Dead. In 2011, I had created a 2D fanart of Daryl sitting atop a pile of zombies.

I have decided to redo that scene but in a 3D digital sculpt. I'm a big fan of comic-book artist Jae Lee and I wanted to portray Daryl in a dramatic pose amidst the darkness, much like Jae Lee's cover-art.
Norman is sculpted in ZBrush with fibermesh and was moved to Maya to finish the scene. It was then rendered in VRay and completed in Photoshop and After Effects.

Cherry Bombb "Knock Knock" Render

Cherry Bombb "Knock Knock" Render (OCTOBER 11, 2014)

.

"Knock Knock"
This image featured my original character Cherry Bombb. I wanted to make an interesting art piece with a bit of humor in it. The tank was modelled in Maya and then moved into ZBrush for detailing. The soldier was sculpted in Zbrush and then moved to Maya. Cherry Bombb was reposed in ZBrush and more details were added to her.

The scene is rendered using VRay in Maya 2015. Then the render was taken into After Effects and Photoshop for editing.

Megaman X Ver. Ke Video and renders (UPDATED Sept 28, 2014)

Megaman X Ver. Ke 3D model video from J.D. Viardo on Vimeo.

For an April Fool's joke, Mizuno Keisuke (artist for Megaman Powered-Up and Maverick Hunter X) had designed a version of Megaman X and stated that it would be made into a figure kit. Well, it turned out to be an april fools prank and of course many were disappointed.

The design however was so good and I knew that eventually I would have to attempt to sculpt it.
The video above has a render, the turnaround, the wireframe turnaround and a render in after-effects.

Change Room Work-in-Progress

This project started out as a fan-art piece. This here is Jessica Nigri, a very famous cosplayer. One of my friends had joked that her room must be some sort of crazy due to the amount of cosplay she does. So I started imagining what it would actually look like.

This piece is not finished and is a Work-in-Progress.

Action Comics No.1 Tribute Renders

I'm a huge comic-book nerd. I wanted to do a scene with a superhero and a good demonstration of his/her powers and this scene was definitely on top of the list in my mind.

Superman was mostly sculpted in ZBrush and the 1937 chevy was modelled mostly in Maya and detailed in ZBrush.

Cherry Bombb

Cherry Bombb was designed to be used in my friend's programming demo reel for his final assignment. It was an FPS shooter deathmatch game so I needed a stylish character with a cannon-arm.
I designed her to have a Tank-Girl feel, and leaned towards a punk-style.
She was sculpted in ZBrush and is rigged in Maya.
